The Horrific Jam of Federal Highway

It was dated 26 March 2007, Monday...(Story Begins..)

Well, it was on monday afternoon, about 4p.m. like that, i started my journey home from University.

That day, I was feeling rather, ECONOMICAL!

So, instead of using Kesas or NPE, i surf my car to the left side of Subang, towards Federal Highway!!

BIG MISTAKE!!

I was a freakishly long Q, on the Motorola Bridge itself!

And to make matter worst, I was living near Cheras!! And the Jam was till Cheras!It was a torturous 2 hours jorney and Q.

As you can see, My hand breks are up, gear on neutral, and speedo meter, 0km/h
What really amaze me was, how Malaysian curb with this kind of situation!

I saw this van, driving with its passanger door opens, and sometimes, the passanger comes out of it to stretch!I was also wondering, how on earth did all the manual driver going to feel..

The entire 2 hour journey, i was wondering how bad can the stall lorry be ahead of the road which cause the terrible jam to where i am..

And, this is wert i saw..

A lorry, that was not in the way of any vehicle, not blocking a single soul, and cause me 2 freaking hour!

Silencing Cyberspace??

SILENCING CYBERSPACE - THE FINAL FRONTIER?
This forum is part of a event by the Democratic Action Party (DAP) to promote and protect the freedom of expression by the Malaysian civil society, particularly on the Internet.
As of today, we have the Printing and Publications Act 1984which provides that it is a criminal offense to possess or use a printing press without a licence granted by the Home Affairs Minister. The Minister is given "absolute discretion" in the granting and revocation of licences, which is required to be renewed on a yearly basis.
We do not require such an Act to govern us in the cyberspace. The Bill of Guarantees of the Multimedia Super Corridor project assures us, Malaysians, and the world that there will be no censorship of the Internet.
Hence DAP believes that it is important to protect the civil society's rights to express fair-minded views, opinions and commentaries on the Internet. The cyberspace is arguably Malaysia's final frontier for freedom of expression.
Instead of making veiled threats in the news media or through our legal system, which appears to be increasingly prevalent, to silence the cyberspace, we hope that our Government will play its part to promote responsible freedom of expression on the Internet.
The panel of distinguished speakers for the forum include:

13 May 1969, is indeed no doubt a turning point for Malaysia then and now.

In the May 10, 1969 general elections, the ruling Alliance coalition (Barisan Nasional) headed by the UMNO suffered a large setback in the polls. The largely Chinese opposition Democratic Action Party and Gerakan gained in the elections, and secured a police permit for a victory parade through a fixed route in Kuala Lumpur.

However, the rowdy procession deviated from its route and headed through the Malay district of Kampung Baru (Near Chow Kit), jeering at the inhabitants. Some participants brandished banners and placards bearing slogans such as "Kuala Lumpur sekarang China punya" (Kuala Lumpur now belongs to the Chinese), "Orang Melayu balik kampong" (Malays go back to the villages), "Melayu sekarang tidak ada kuasa lagi" (Malays now no longer have power), and "Semua Melayu kasi habis" (Finish off all the Malays). Some demonstrators carried brooms, later alleged to symbolise the sweeping out of the Malays from Kuala Lumpur, while others chanted slogans about the "sinking" of the Alliance boat — the coalition's logo.

While the Gerakan party issued an apology the next day, UMNO announced a counter-procession, which would start from the Selangor Chief Minister Harun bin Idris'(the culprit) home in Jalan Raja Muda. Tunku Abdul Rahman would later call the retaliatory parade "inevitable, as otherwise the party members would be demoralised after the show of strength by the Opposition and the insults that had been thrown at them." (Basically, the malays can not tolerate humour!... and they can not be control, not even Tunku Abdul Rahman can control them!.. and by saying those words, Tunku actually indirectly support the riot!)

Shortly before the procession began, the gathering crowd was reportedly informed that Malays on their way to the procession had been attacked by Chinese in Setapak, several miles to the north.(There were no prove of such attack until today!) The angry protestors swiftly wreaked revenge by killing two passing Chinese motorcyclists, and the riot began. During the course of the riots, the loudspeakers of mosques were used to urge the rioters to continue in their actions.(Missuse of religious property and adding to the provocation!..somehow, the malays never got blame for the ever continuing riot they keep exciting!)

The riot ignited the capital Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding state of Selangor, but except for minor disturbances in Melaka the rest of the country stayed calm. A nationwide state of emergency and accompanying curfew were declared on May 16, but the curfew was relaxed in most parts of the country for two hours on May 18 and not enforced even in central Kuala Lumpur within a week.

According to police figures, 196 people died, 149 were wounded. 753 cases of arson were logged and 211 vehicles were destroyed or severely damaged. An estimated 6,000 Kuala Lumpur residents — 90% of them Chinese — were made homeless(basically, the chinese was caught by suprise which clearly shows that the malays started it!!). Various other casualty figures have been given, with one thesis from a UC Berkeley academic putting the total dead at ten times the government figure(the goverment lie about the figure).

..…A phone call came through at 6.45pm that an ugly incident had taken place along Jalan Raja Muda in which some Chinese were assaulted.
Immediately afterwards Enche Mansor, the Kuala Lumpur Police Traffic Chief, and one or two others, came to see me and said that there had been killing. The city had been placed under immediate curfew as at 7 pm. The Security Forces were out, the army called in.
Naturally I could not sleep that night, my mind upset with the tragedy that had overtaken our peaceful capital and nation. I went out side my balcony outside my room looking down on the city in the valley by night. Flames were burning high in several areas, near Kampong Bharu and to the North.
Kuala Lumpur was a city on fire and it was a sight that I never thought I would see in my lifetime.
While they were gathered in the compound of Dato Harun's residence news came through suddenly that Chinese had attacked Malays in Setapak, a mile or two to the North, as they were on their way to join the procession starting from Jalan Raja Nuda.
The news created a storm of indignation; hell broke loose. Two Chinese passing by on motor cycles were attacked and killed. By comparring these 2 articles,
It cleary show that, Riot by Dato Harun has already began! The city was arson by the Malays and killing of the chinese has already taken place! Therefore, like the "Malays" the Chinese has also taken a "counter riot" as it was inevitable, as otherwise the Chinese would be demoralised after the show of strength by the Malay and the insults(murdering) that had been done to them!

However, as said, no prove of those murder has taken place!

Witness that shall not be name inform me that, during the gathering in Kampung Bharu, the malays already had weapon in their hand. Even before the riot broke out, there were a sudden increase of Malays in the area. And at a given time, the Malays draw out their knife and started massacaring the Chinese in that Area. If the claim that the Chinese started killing in Setapak started first, why would the Malays be well prepared with Knife and Parang?

Another eye witness added that the Malays was carrying lots of bag at that time. And at the given time, which the witness forgetten, the Malays distributed the weapon and started killing the Chinese.

Witness had it that, Chinese houses were burn, girls were rape! And some were burn alive in their vehicles!

However so, The chinese do retal to the attacks made by the malays. So, that makes eveyone even!

Keeping this issue neutral in our text book and history is strongly recomended!
No party should be blame for any reason as each party has already done wrong!

History of RTM (Radio Television Malaysia)

The history of radio in Malaya began in the year 1921 when an electrical engineer from the Johor Government, A.L. Birch, brought the first radio set into the country. He then established the Johore Wireless Association and commenced broadcasting through 300 meter waves. This was then followed by the establishment of the same association in Penang and the Malayan Wireless Association in Kuala Lumpur.



In the year 1930, Sir Earl from the Singapore Port Authority commenced its short wave broadcast every fortnight either on Sundays or Wednesdays. The same effort was emulated by the Malayan Wireless Association, broadcasting from Bukit Petaling, Kuala Lumpur, via 325 meter waves. This was followed by the efforts of Sir Shenton Thomas who opened the Studio of Broadcasting Corporation of Malaya and its transmitter at Caldecott Hill, Singapore, on 11th March 1937. The British Broadcasting Corporation of Malaya was then taken over by the Straits Settlement and became a part of the British Information Ministry better known as the Malayan Broadcasting Corporation.

Following the Japanese invasion and the end of British rule in Singapore in 1942, the Japanese took over and used the existing radio channels in Penang, Malacca, Kuala Lumpur, Seremban and Singapore to transmit Japanese propaganda. However, in the year 1943, the British came back into power and reclaimed the stations.
On 1st April 1946, the Department of Broadcasting was established in Singapore. When emergency, caused by the outbreak of social riots was declared in 1948, it became necessary to further enhance and develop radio services.

In the early 50's, broadcasting activities in Malaya were operated from its temporary studio in Jalan Young (now know as Jalan Cenderasari) in Kuala Lumpur and later in 1956, were moved to the Federal House, Kuala Lumpur. It was here that broadcasting in Malaysia grew with the establishment of several stations throughout the country including Sabah and Sarawak. Commercial advertisements were first aired on radio in 1960. This became a new source of revenue for the Government. An interesting point to note is that 'deejays' began to use the introduction "INILAH RADIO MALAYSIA" (This is Radio Malaysia) to greet listeners at the very first time Malaysia was formed in 16th September 1963.

Broadcasting further carved another milestone when Television services were introduced on 28 December 1963 from its studio, Dewan Tunku Abdul Rahman, Jalan Ampang. Broadcast operations then moved office to Angkasapuri Complex which began its telecast on 6th October 1969, Radio and Television were merged under the Ministry of Information. The growth of the first channel, Rangkaian Satu encouraged the second channel to be established on 17th November 1969.

It was in Angkasapuri Complex that rapid development in broadcasting for both radio and television began. Broadcast time was extended to cater to the needs of listeners from all walks of life. National Radio Channel (Rangkaian National) began its round the clock services to cater for night shift workers such as factory operators, wardens, hospital staffs, lorry or bus drivers, pick-up service operators, food courts or caterers and security guards. Today, Malaysians enjoy listening to 6 radio channels 24 hours a day in Malay, English, Mandarin and Tamil while East Malaysians (Sabah and Sarawak) are tuning to radio channels in their respective native languages such as Kadazan, Murut, Dusun, Bajau, English and Mandarin via Blue Channel RTM Kota Kinabalu. Bidayuh, a dialect widely used by Sarawakians, is the main language for Blue Channel RTM Kuching. Iban and Kayan/Kenyah are dialects used in the Green Channel of the station while English and Mandarin are local dialects used for the Red Channel. Except for RTM Limbang, dialects used for the Red Channel. Except for RTM Limbang, dialects used to communicate with the listeners are as mentioned but Bisaya and Murut (Lun Bawang) are also spectacular dialects used in that channel.

Electronic media is the most important source of receiving and disseminating information because it is fast, cheap and direct to or from the clients. Knowing the fact that being laden with too much information creates adverse effects to Radio listeners or TV audience, an alternative of placing information side by side with entertainment is practised. On 20th June 1975, Radio Muzik (Muzik Radio) was launched. As the name implies, the channel allows for total entertainment in the form of songs for listeners of all ages.
Development in television is also very rapid especially in the era of Information Technology (IT). Efforts to air 80 percent local programmes and 20 percent foreign or imported programmes are taken very seriously.

April 1st 1996 marked RTM's 50 years anniversary.RTM has experienced tremendous changes and development in the field of broadcasting. 1998 was another historical year for RTM. World class sporting events were brought to Kuala Lumpur. World standard athletes came from all Commonwealth countries in the world to witness and judge Malaysia's capabilities in broadcasting. The International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) became the centre of broadcasting excellence during the Commonwealth games and RTM is the Host Broadcaster.

TV Malaysia started its early telecast on 1st March 1994 and started transmission as early as 6.00 am. TV1, The Prime Channel introduced "Selamat Pagi Malaysia" (Good Morning Malaysia). TV2, The Golden Channel, later followed by launching "Moving On Two" in December 1996. The commencement of the early morning telecasts also enable news and up-dates to be aired more frequently. RTM's News Centre which is fully computerised with up-to-date editing and post-production facilities was able to provide this service.

What could be more praiseworthy is not only that the number of listeners, viewers and revenues collected from commercial advertisements derived from airing them increasing year by year, but RTM has marked yet another milestone with the introduction of RTM's website at the end of 1995. This service which was launched by the Honourable Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamed on 27th December 1995, enables listeners to tune to the TV and Radio stations via the Internet. The Internet does not lessen the role of radio and television. On the contrary, the Net can be used to enhance the functions of radio and televisyen in disseminating information globally.

RTM Cawangan Hwei Ming

Basically, what this history tell us is that, RTM takes a long time to grow! Until now, their channel are flooded with advertisement just to maximize their profit in every pity little seconds we watch it. RTM has no match with HBO or STAR Channel even though RTM is only competing for viewer within Malaysia.

News on RTM is ever more worst! It displays news that are very one sided. Most of the time, you'll see some political leaders walking, shaking hands, and looking shinny due to the camera flash in the news. Sorry RTM, but seriously, i think, you guys should work on your overloaded add problem and boringness in the channel.

I strongly belive, RTM should split it channel into 4 categories, English, Malay, Chinese and Indian, instead of crapming all 4 languages into a channel that is also over crowded with adds.

I always thank god for the creation of Astro and hope for its longevity for many channels to choose from!
